Have a lizard.
Productivity today has reached a highpoint for me, I've gotten like 8 things done, and it's only 7:54. I guess I've got some TV and dinner to catch up on, so I think I'll do that next!
In other news, (I'm sure you guys've all heard) I've been featured on Drunk Duck, so check out Allan and leave me a congrats, unless you don't want to, and that's cool too.
So, ah, here's a dragon!

If WingNut is the king, I'm the lil' prince of it.
I really want to talk about the male sex drive and how advertising is obnoxiously annoying and how when someone pours their soul into something for years, that doesn't matter to people. What matters is how big the boobs are. So, in order to create the ultimate money making thing, I move that we all begin a fanservice psuedo erotic comic. Featuring a cliche storyline with decent writing. We will make a par comic! Shoot for par!
BUT
I won't talk about it, because it's not a big deal, and there's nothing you can do about such things.
Uh, I don't really have that much new artwork. This weekend's been kind of dead with the art thing. Next weekend I'll post some embarrassingly old stuff which makes no sense to me anymore, compare my 6th grade work to my 12th grade work. Think "Wow, you could draw cooler when you were younger Zac". And then I'll think about how I had to relearn to draw in college.
Woohoo.. Go see Hot Fuzz by the way. It is amazing.
I'll be back. As soon as I'm finished with this project...sz

Sanity is Over-rated
I am a GOD of procrastination
I arrived, breathless and panting after a half mile sprint to the lecture hall, sat down, and aced my test. Now, this is the worst possible form of encouragement, because it makes you think, "Hey, you know what? If I call bullshit this, I can bullshit ANYTHING." Not a good lesson to learn in college.
But, until the day comes when I'm held accountable for my lack of time management, I shall continue to draw pretty pictures, when by all rights, I really should be asleep.
Here ya go Riot, expect a colored one once I get a few more projects out of the way. ;D

The Adventures of Manly-Man, and Zac the Fem-boy Wonder
Thursday, April 26, 2007
Yo guys. Whaddap?
He promised me money and an award if I joined, so I said sure. Now pay up, Ace!
In other news: I'll try and blog as much as I can. School takes up most of my life, and my comic takes up the rest, so I'll do my best to participate with everyone on this Blog!
Oh, and you might notice some differences between my comic Allan's art, and my art freestyle. You be the judge.
And speaking of Allan, that's what I do--I make an autobiographical comic on Drunk Duck called "Allan," because that's my name! You can check it out by clicking here!
So thanks for inviting me, guys!--I'm honored that I'm here, that I get to hang out with such distinguished artists as you, and I'll try to make you proud! *sniff!*
Here's a pic of things to come:

Worst. Blogger. Ever.
I was supposed to be off today, but got called in to finish up some paperwork. Then I had a lunch date...with a girl...and i DIDN'T make a total ass out of myself. Ok, I probably did...but she enjoyed it, so keen gear. Plus, I found out my local comic shop sold out of issues of The Path AND gave me my cut of the money! Score!
Um, yesterday, I got interviewed for the Gigcast. If any of you have this semi-professional, deep, serious mental image of me...do not listen to it. It just shows how much of a jackass I am...and how much bigger a jackass I am when given open-forum with a couple of fellow geeks.
They DID have an odd obsession with "Dr. Who", though...
Not much else. Here's the cover-art I did for those nice fellows over at The Gigcast for my interview. They seem to have a good sense of humor...hope they don't mind so much.
Later, m'dears.
Stealing Internets
But luckily, some neighbor ( or school ) has a mad crazy wireless signal that I can pick up on ( BARELY ) so hooray for that. Otherwise there would be a lack of freux for two weeks. ( Ewww.. )
This morning is icky and stormy and I've already run over a squirrel. Nevermind the fact that I've only had an hour of sleep. I can't stop thinking about the poor squirrel. x__x
Here's some Lucie art. I tried to stay kinda close to the Lucie style with the coloring and such, because it's just so darn cute. <3
I really like her design, even though the checkers on her pants were hell to do. Cute little Lucie.

A lizard who can access the internet... WITH MY MIND
So to celebrate, I drew a sleeping half-naked guy.

It's 4:45 am...
So I just noticed that I completely eliminated noses from my drawings. No kidding. I did not notice it as I was drawing it. I did not notice it as i was coloring or even putting all the finishing touches on. No, I noticed after looking through the MacHall archives for a specific comic and I took a quick peek back at ApL to see if there were any new comments. I did a double-take. "What the hell? Why aren't there any noses? I don't remember there not being any noses..." (pretend that i actually said that). It was at this point that I realized that they look fine WITHOUT noses. Does anyone else find that odd? That you can draw a recognizable human face with a prominent feature completely omitted and it still looks natural?
I think I'm just gonna stop drawing noses altogether, see how that goes down.
Anyway, I thought I'd share what today's comic looked like before all that fancy inking and background work.

Civil War and my foot
Civil War is going to keep going! We all had a little hump to get over this weekend, but things should be in full swing soon. So keep an eye out for that. Speaking of which I guess I could show the things I'm working on for civil war...
Well Nothing much really. I guess I can put up the pic I did for a girl at work.
I promised her it 6 months ago: "OKAY I WILL GIVE YOU THE PICTURE TOMORROW". And it's tomorrow...6 months later.
And then there's a secret thing I'm doing and here's lineart for it.
...
Yeah lame post. I should tell the story about Riot and his work today. But I'll save it for later.
LATER DAYS

Urrrggggh It's LATE and I hate buying advertising...
I am dead tired. SO tired that I am dead. I'm going to try and do stock pages this week because I'm lame like that...and NEED them, since finals are coming up. Plus riot is super busy and Froo and Acadia are like ninjas and elusive (which has nothing to do with making stock pages, but I felt like i should mention it anyways). Wingnut, Pixie. Just going to say their names too.
It's 3:00AM but the post won't go up until like 12, because I don't wanna bump Froo and Pixie's AWESOME art off the page.
So tonight I went and played putt-putt and after putt-putt watched Mulan. While watching mulan, I drew some crappy renditions of Venture bros characters, because I had no references, nor had i tried to draw them before....
this is a shitty drawing, but I ONLY POST IT BECAUSE SOOOOOON I WILL POST A NEW AND BETTERER ONE. Why? Because I'm madly in love with the venture brothers. It's like the show of my life.
Alrighty, more fun things later!
<3 Zac
Wow, I'm glad to see this thing taking off!
Yarr! Here be monsters!
and also the as-yet unnamed little waif child from A Murder of Two. ^_^
I had a go at Kat from Riot's The Path, too, but I failed rather spectacularly. I switched sides on the shading about 5 times and it also looks nothing like her. So that gets linked. ^_^

Cocoa Butter with Shea
Hi, all. I'm making my first post! Cheer for me. Yes. Cheer. Um.. I'm Freux and I'm happy to be here. I'm probably the laziest out of all the people, let me tell ya.
My current project is A Murder of Two. It's been restarted once already, but I'm excited about it this time. Things are going much better.
So.. TX, anyone?

The Kraken Is a Wuss
This is me posting, so Zac will stop yelling at me. I'm not sure exactly WHAT he expects me to write about. Perhaps some deep, emotional attachments I have to certain works of art that I've done? Possibly the motivations behind my current work? Maybe how I wish my hair looked so silky smooth.
Alas, that will not be what goes on in my little corner of this rag-tag group of artistic rebels...oh, no. Ok...maybe sometimes.
For those of you that don't know me, I'm Mr. Riot, creator of "The Path" and co-creator (with Zac) of The Drunk Duck Civil War. I'm aa scoundrel, incorrigible clown, a hopeless romantic...and my beard is the mightiest thing this world has ever seen. Entire nations tremble at the sight of it. unlike my more technologically-savvy counterparts here at Mediocre militia, I'm almost entirely "old skool" when it comes to my comics. I do the drawing, inking, and coloring(if I actually happen to color something) by hand. Then I add letters in Photoshop...and old version of photoshop that most artists wouldn't be caught dead using. I like it that way...it works for me. An obsolete punker using obsolete methods.
I draw comics, pin-ups, tattoo designs, do freelance production art for a few California-based ad agencies...and I love what I do. I wouldn't trade it for all the world...not even Ireland.
I don't know what else to babble about here, so I'll close with a drawing of Snake Eyes:
Later.

A New-ish Chapter
Heh.
Anyway, from about the 5th or 6th strip till now, Applied Living's main writer was Michael Olson (my brother). He's turned out some pretty solid scripts, and I've had fun with him as the writer, so I was always happy to have him as my go-to guy for a script. This, however, is about to change. For the past month or so, Mike's been slacking a bit (I haven't gotten more than one script from him for about a month and a half), so I've decided to ask my buddy Shaun (yes, the one in the comic) to help me out. It's not that Mike isn't satisfactory, but there are extenuating circumstances around this situation. School, girls, etc. are standing in Mike's way when I need a script. Shaun, however, is ideal for a webcomic writer. He's an english major. He also was my DM (Dungeon Master -- yes, I played Dungeons and Dragons, what of it?) from back in the day. He and I have also been collaborating on an upcomic project (it's called Flammarion, and so far the story is FRIGGIN SWEET -- more of a serious venture. Not the same brand as ApL, but still very much worth a look), so it seemed only natural for me to ask him to contribute in some way to ApL. Well he's never been a very CONFIDENT writer (or person), but I have nothing but confidence in him. His writing is genius, and I'm really excited to start collaborating on this ASAP.
Just lettin you guys know the deal if you start to notice a different name appearing at the bottom of the ApL strips.

Hah! Awesome
So it seems everyone is posting what they are working on for the next few days, here is the script for page one of the DD Civil War. I'm gonna have so much fun with this.
(Wingnut is suiting up, arming himself. In each panel Wingnut is shown to be arming himself. Sensei is probably meditating on a futon, incense burning. If any panel shows the box of incense, it is labeled catnip.)
Panel one
Sensei: Violence conjures loss, and loss breeds revenge.
Panel two:
Sensei: Revenge in turn leads to more violence, a vicious cycle that gets stronger with each passing.
Wingnut: Didn’t Yoda say that?
Panel three:
Sensei: The life of the mercenary, this life, is ripe with such violence. The path you walk leads away from enlightenment, from true happiness.
Wingnut: I’ve never really been happy with happiness. Besides, we need the money.
Sensei: Money merely buys “things”. “Things” do not lead to enlightenment.
Panel 4:
Wingnut: Yeah, but enlightenment doesn’t pay the bills, or buy dinner. Do you want to eat cat food again next week?
Sensei: Well, I am a cat.
Wingnut: … That was a metaphorical question (Faded Sensei: No it wasn’t). Either I get us some work, or we lose our lease and I have to work for Chronos again, and you know how that went last time.
Panel 5:
Sensei: It is not wise try to solve all of life’s problems through violence.
Wingut: Sure it is, as long as you only shoot the bad guys. (Loads gun)
Good Morning World, It's 2 o'clock AM
Lately I've been doing a lot of drawing. I mean a freaking lot. It seems like yesterday that the Drunk Duck Civil War began, when in actuality...it's been a month now. That's a strange thing to think about. I'm enjoying every minute of it (except for some of the roster things, but that just comes along with it). I've met some great people and definitely learned a lot of things to improve my own work.
I've consumed more caffeine in this past few weeks than I think is mentally safe. I've barely finished assignments for class. I've felt massive pressure pushing from all sides, but that's straight, because I AM ENJOYING LIFE for a change.
True, my friends in real life hardly see me at nights anymore (then again my friends outside of the internet don't go out anymore anyways...Lame), but the internet art buddies I've made are terrific. I can't tell you how many people have begun to influence and help my style for the better. I'd list people, but I'd be afraid that I would miss someone!
I hope to have some art up tomorrow. I'd really like to show a comparisson between my early stuff and later stuff. Maybe the others'll follow in my tracks.
Anyways, I'm looking forward to where this could go. It may prove to be quite interesting.

It's Aliiive
My, what quotes you can get from old 30's movies. So this blog seems like a cool deal. I approve. Wingnut, however, seems oddly green about the situation. (Haha... oh the puns)
Oh, by the way. Feel free to comment, folks. This is a public thing, and we'd love any feedback/opinions and shit you'd be willing to give out.
